Aquaform® Technology
You’ve probably seen the term Aquaform® Technology on our products and
wondered exactly what that means. It’s not just one thing but a
combination of material technologies resulting in a uniquely comfortable
and high-performance lens only available through CooperVision.
The Aquaform lens material itself has many features that work together
to create an optimal lens-wearing experience.
For instance, when
a lens doesn't breathe properly, the tiny red veins in the white part of
the eye become more visible as they reach for more oxygen much like a
plant in a shadow reaches its branches towards the sunlight. The
material in Aquaform Technology lenses has high oxygen transmissibility
for increased breathability to keep your eyes healthy and white. |
Another feature is what’s called a low modulus. The modulus
is the degree of a contact lens’ flexibility, and the lower the
modulus, the more soft and flexible the lens.
The
molecular structure of Aquaform Technology lens material
provides not only uniform wettability creating a smooth lens
surface but also natural wettability.
Other lenses can come with
artificial coatings and wetting agents that dissipate over time.
The silicone macromers in Aquaform Technology lenses lock water
into the lens keeping them moist even after periods of extended
wear.
In addition to material, lens shape has much to do
with the quality of the lens-wearing experience. Aquaform
Technology lenses feature an optimized rounded-edge design that
reduces conjunctival interaction. In other words, it keeps the
lens from rubbing too much on the inside of the eyelid providing
an increased level of comfort.
All Biofinity lenses
feature our exclusive Aquaform® Technology. This combination
of material technologies provides a uniquely comfortable,
high-performance lens that lets your eyes breathe and stay moist
naturally.

Optimized Lens Geometry
Patients with astigmatism need lenses with different
optical powers at different points that must be oriented in
just the right way to correct vision.
CooperVision's toric lenses are both
stable and accurate due to Optimized Ballast Design (or
Optimized Lens Geometry). This type of design is
multifaceted to ensure optimal visual acuity, fit, and
comfort.
The geometry of the lens and its wide ballast band
quickly orient the lens for better performance and simple
fitting. A uniform horizontal ISO thickness also enhances
lens stability and provides a consistent fit across the
power range. A larger toric optic zone provides clear vision
over a wide range of lens powers. Finally, a smooth,
junction-less surface helps maximize comfort on every blink.
